Jan 11,2012

Wanda Group recently released a list of its achievements in the year 2011 with respect to its fulfillment of its corporate social responsibilities. In 2011, its assets reached 195 billion yuan and its annual income was 105.1 billion yuan. Not only was the Group one of the top private enterprises in China in terms of economic indicators, it also made outstanding achievements as a socially responsible enterprise, contributing towards job creation, tax payments, energy conservation, greenhouse gas emission reduction, charitable donations and volunteer services, among others.

In 2011, the Group opened 16 Wanda Plazas, 12 five-star hotels and 14 department stores, creating 89,000 jobs in the service industry in cities, of which, 16,800 went to university students. In the same year, 12 million new jobs were created in China, which meant that Wanda alone created 0.74 percent of the new jobs in the country on the whole.

The Group paid a total of 16.34 billion yuan in taxes in the year 2011, an increase of 72 percent compared to the previous year. The Group paid a total of 9.5 billion yuan in taxes in 2010, which was the highest among all private enterprises in China. It is expected to have maintained the same ranking in 2011.

In 2011, a total of 13 Wanda Plazas received the "Green Building" certification from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, bringing the total number of projects that received the certification to 16. Since the Ministry began the "Green Building" certification scheme in 2009, only 16 public buildings have received the certification and they are all Wanda Plazas. Wanda’s achievements in energy conservation and greenhouse gas emission reduction are far ahead of other enterprises in the country. According to the internal requirements of the Group, all residential projects that it develops after 2013 shall achieve 100% top quality renovation and conservation building materials shall be used to minimize environmental pollution.

The Group donated 257 million yuan in cash towards public welfare in 2011 , of which, 100 million yuan were for the benefit of education in Chengdu, 85 million yuan were in support of revitalizing football in China (the total donation was in excess of 600 million yuan and this was the first donation), 20 million yuan went to the Youth Entrepreneurship Fund of the central committee of the Socialist Youth League of China, 15 million yuan went towards the development of social undertakings in Xinjiang and 10 million yuan were in aid of the needy in Dalian.

The Group conducted 726 volunteer activities in 2011, with the total number of participants at 48,053. The Group requires that every employee engages in volunteer activities once a year and since the system began in 2006, total participation by its employees has exceeded 150,000. Wanda’s volunteer service has been expanding in tandem with the Group’s development and it now covers more than 60 cities in the country, thereby becoming a unique aspect of philanthropy in China.
