December 18 - Under the direction of the Chinese Football Association, the Wanda Group hosted their "Star of Hope Chinese Football Team Study Abroad Launch And Wanda Group’s Strategic Partnership with Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Villarreal Signing Ceremony" at the Beijing Wanda Sofitel Hotel. The Wanda Group will invest a minimum of 200 million yuan, putting into operation its "China Football Star of Hope" youth overseas training program by selecting a group of 90 youth football players for a three year study abroad experience in Spain. As a result, Wanda’s support of total costs for the youth study aboard program will exceed the amount specified in Wanda’s original strategic partnership agreement with the Chinese Football Association by more than 80 million yuan. This is the single largest sponsorship of a sports training program for young people since the founding of the PRC and is also the first time in the history of Chinese football that Chinese players will be sent to world-renowned football clubs to train under the same conditions as local players. Chinese Football Association Vice Chairman and Secretary-General Wei Di, and representatives of the Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Villarreal Football Clubs attended the signing ceremony. The Spanish Football Federation sent a letter of congratulations.
